4th Anniversary of War in Iraq: A Call to Action from UFPJ
On Saturday, March 17th, we will bring people from every state to Washington, DC, to demand an end to the war! We will call on people to stay through the weekend, and on Monday, March 19th -- the 4th anniversary of this obscene war -- we will organize a massive day of action focused on both the policy makers and the war machine.
Take a Stand by Signing the Voters Pledge!
The VotersPledge makes visible a powerful political force, the peace vote, a force that politicians cannot continue to ignore. It sends a clear message to the hawkish minority that leads both major parties to end the occupation of Iraq and to end unprovoked attacks on other nations.
Don't let voting rights get washed away
After suffering this horrific tragedy, survivors may be stripped of their right to vote. Urge Governor Blanco to allow satellite voting for displaced residents from Louisiana. She must act this week. Tell her this nation provided satellite voting to allow Iraqis in the US to vote. Katrina survivors were displaced by no fault of their own.
Add your name to Senate Resolution 350
Congress never authorized the Bush Admnistration to spy on U.S. citizens without court-issued warrants, and Senate Resolution 350 makes that crystal-clear. Please review it, add your name in support and spread the word about this important document.
Congress: Investigate Bush's Illegal Domestic Spying
Since this potentially illegal activity was clearly directed from within the Administration, there is simply no way that the Justice Department can investigate the matter without serious conflicts of interest. Therefore, we are calling on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to appoint a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of this matter and bring criminal charges against anyone found to have violated the law.
Sign the Voter Confidence Petition in Support of H.R. 550
H.R. 550 would require all voting systems to produce an actual paper record that voters themselves can inspect in the voting booth to check the accuracy of their votes, and that election officials can use to verify the accuracy of the vote count. Commonly referred to as a "voter-verified paper record," it is the most effective way to ensure an independent audit and provide voter-verified evidence as to the accuracy (or not) of election results.
Operation Truth's Honor the Fallen Campaign
For several months, Operation Truth has listed the names of our fallen servicemembers on its first page and we ask that our nation's newpapers do the same. Help us accomplish this critical first step in honoring our fallen servicemembers.
MoveOn.org Civic Action
Hurricane Katrina has left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. But thousands of people throughout the region are stepping up to offer free shelter to those in need.
A Promise in Jeopardy: Three crucial sections of the VRA set to expire in 2007
Take action! Help save the Voting Rights Act.
Tell Wal-Mart Enough is Enough
One after another the scandals emerge revealing Wal-Mart's ruthless campaign against workers' rights. When Wal-Mart employees attempt to stand up for themselves and try to form a union, they face threats, propaganda, discrimination, intimidation, and even firings. It's wrong, and it's got to stop now.
JOIN NEW GALLO BOYCOTT
Together we will convince America's wealthiest wine making family to do the responsible thing by stopping the exploitation of their workers. The Gallos deny the majority of their farm workers benefits and grievance rights. The Gallos abuse, cheat and deny these workers benefits, job protections and humane living conditions in the heart of California's fabled wine country. The Gallos say they have no responsibility for the miserable conditions endured by their vineyard employees because they are "temporary workers". Through this boycott, people of goodwill can have a say. "No Gallo!"
Shut Guantánamo Down -- Tell President Bush to just shut it down
The Guantánamo Bay prisoner of war camp is a disgrace to all Americans. In a recent report, Amnesty International referred to Guantánamo as the "gulag of our times." Even New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman is now calling on President Bush to tear down the prison.
World Wide Petition against the Escalation in Iraq
We demand that the United States face up to reality, unconditionally withdraw their troops from Iraq, and draw the necessary conclusions as to the unacceptable nature of preventive war. It is an illusion to ask that the U.S. forces remain until Iraq is pacified or stabilized, because their very presence is so hated that it constitutes the main obstacle to any sort of pacification.
Please urge Senators to SUPPORT THIS BILL! Voter Verified Paper Ballots, VIVA 2005
Voting Integrity and Verification Act of 2005 (V.I.V.A. 2005) will mandate a Voter Verified Paper Ballot, ensuring that all federal elections are auditable.
Courageous Biotech Critic Terminated at UC Berkeley
PLEASE TAKE ACTION IN SOLIDARITY WITH DR IGNACIO CHAPELA - STAND UP FOR ACADEMIC FREEDOM! An outspoken critic of the University of California Berkeley's ties to the biotechnology industry, Dr. Ignacio Chapela had his tenure denied after he and fellow Berkeley scientist, David Quist, published an article demonstrating that native corn in Mexico had been contaminated by genetically engineered corn.

Act to protect the freedom to choose a union
Bipartisan legislation (H.R. 3619 and S. 1925) introduced in Congress will help fix the broken process through which workers form unions. Please take a moment right now to send a fax to your senators and representative. Urge them to sign on as a sponsor of this important pro-worker legislation.
Take Action! Make your voice heard!

Hold Bush accountable
President Bush sat down in the Oval Office for an interview with Tim Russert and spoke about his service in the National Guard. Bush told us, "I put in my time, proudly so." He said, "And I'm telling you, I did my duty." But now we know that Bush dishonored the Oval Office by lying to the American people. Sign our petition to President Bush and demand that he answer the American people's questions about his Guard service.
National Impeach Bush Meetup Day
Meetup with other local activists who are interested in grassroots organizing to persuade our members of Congress to impeach George W. Bush for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Join Bono in the Fight Against AIDS in Africa
The AIDS epidemic is taking a devastating and relentless toll on Africa. As Americans, we can make a difference. U2's Bono has asked us all to get involved. I hope you'll join me in this urgent cause. ONE is a new effort to rally Americans -- ONE by ONE -- to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. The ONE Campaign is engaging Americans everywhere we gather -- in churches and synagogues, on the internet and college campuses, at community meetings and concerts.
Take Action on Medicare
The White House lied to Congress about the cost of the Bush Medicare bill and threatened to fire an expert if he told the truth. Sign our petition to show your support for the Democratic leaders who are calling for an investigation into the latest Bush outrage.
Dump Rush Limbaugh from American Forces Radio
Nearly a million American soldiers and Department of Defense staff are able to hear Rush Limbaugh due to the generosity of the American taxpayer and partisan decision making by the Pentagon. A recently published story on Salon.com gives new meaning to the phrase "fair and balanced." Salon reports that Rush Limbaugh spews his blatantly partisan views (he's repeatedly called John Kerry a "gigolo" and has said that Democrats "hate this country," among other tidbits) daily on American Forces Radio. This airing of such extreme and hateful partisan content must stop immediately. *NOTE: Rush has admitted on his show that he is officially an "unpaid advisor" for Dubya's White House.
